TWO WOMEN FROM CHADEMA COMPLETE LIST OF EALA MEMBERS FROM TANZANIA

Dodoma. Members of Parliament (MPs) on Wednesday evening elected Pamela Massay, and Josephine Lemoyan from Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) members.

The election was held to fill two slots which remained vacant after former Chadema aspirants failed to get enough votes when the election was conducted a month ago.

Announcing the results, Clerk of the National Assembly, Dr Thomas Kashililah, said a total of 296 votes were cast and no single vote was spoilt.

According to Dr Kashililah, Ms Lemoyan bagged 219 votes followed by Ms Massay who managed 200 votes.

A total of six Chadema members were nominated for the race. Others include Prof Abdallah Safari, Ezekia Wenje, Lawrence Masha and Salum mwalimu.

Prof Safari obtained 35 votes, Mr Wenje got 34, Mr mwalimu managed 59 and Mr Masha scooped 44 votes.

According to Dr Kashilalh, election of the two completes election of nine Eala members from Tanzania.

On April 4, this year the parliament elected seven members from CCM and CUF. Two slots reserved for Chadema could not get a winner after Mr Wenje and Masha failed to get enough votes.

Those who were elected on first phase include Fancy Nkuhi, happiness Legiko, Maryam Ussi Yahya, Dr Abdullah Makame, Dr Ngwaru Maghembe and Mr Adam Kimbisa from CCM while Mr Habib Mnyaa was from CUF.
